Jared Owens is a visual artist currently based in Charleston SC, a New York Native . Owens’ art career began ten years ago in federal prison. Owens started as a self taught portrait artist creating work for fellow inmates. Owens eventually turned his attention to non-objective and conceptual art. Much of Owens’ material choices focus on dismantling the idea that which society discards can never have worth. His vibrant, layered style shifts and transcends the notion that abstract art cannot be politically or socially conscious. Owens work is not only at MoMA PS 1 his work is featured in ARTFORUM SEPTEMBER 2020. We are pleased to have five pieces of these impressive and important works available.
